Children’s Sunday Morning Programs
3 Years-5 Years (PreK) Classes at 9:30 and 11:00am
Interactive classes help children understand basic Biblical truths through storytelling, puppetry, singing, and a variety of hands-on activities. Classes meet for a full hour in the preschool wing on the first floor.
Bridges to Worship at 9:30 am (see below)
Power Up at 9:30 and 11:00 am
Through drama and small group activities, this fun and creative program helps children connect Biblical stories to the stories of their own lives.
Bridges and Gateways to Worship at 9:30 am
Bridges to Worship is available to children ages 4-6. Through imaginative storytelling and multi-sensory materials, children experience the wonder and mystery of God while personally engaging the major narratives of the Bible.
Gateways to Worship is available to 2nd and 3rd grade children. Through small group community, fun activities and engaging lessons, kids develop a deeper understanding of worship and their purpose as His children.
Connect at 9:30 am
With an emphasis on community and connecting Christ’s presence throughout the narratives of scripture, preteens develop a big picture of what it means to be God’s people. Through games, bible study, small group discussion, and service, valuable connections are made at Connect!
Intergenerational Class at 11 am
Provided for 4th grade through adults, the class is gospel centered, accessible to everyone, and provides a great opportunity for preteens to learn with family while developing relationships with congregants of all ages.
K-6th Grade Worship Touch Points
While children are welcome in worship anytime, our 9:30 service is designed to support age appropriate experiences to worship with family. Each week, elementary aged children begin in worship with their parents and are dismissed to Sunday school after the children’s message. Additionally, the 4th-6th grade Connect class is off on first Sundays so that preteens may participate in communion and full hour worship.
Friendship Buddies for Special Needs
Children with special needs are invited to participate in all children’s programs. If your child would benefit from one-on-one assistance, we would love to talk to you more. Please fill out our individualized support assessment, and we will be in touch to discuss matching your child with a trained teen or adult buddy.
Children are welcome to come to Sunday School at any time. If you would like them to appear on the pre-printed rosters, please complete this form.

Sunday morning nursery is available for children from 1 month through 2 years old at all worship services. It is in the Childcare wing on the 2nd floor, rooms 207-209.
Three classrooms are designed to meet the developmental needs of the children: Lambs are newborns to early walkers, Bunnies are children walking well up to age 2, and Lion Cubs are two year olds.
The nursery is staffed by a committed group of volunteers who nurture and teach our smallest members about the love of Christ. Each room is well-equipped with appropriate, good-quality toys, and we do our best to ensure that each room is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.
We have a comprehensive check-in process that enables parents to leave, confident that their child is safe. Parents are asked to provide a cell phone number and keep their cell phone close by during the service, on vibrate, so we can contact them if needed.

Calling all 4th-6th Graders – Have you Heard about Club?!
FRIENDS. FUN. FOR REAL. That’s what Club is about, and it’s your place to belong! Expect to have a TON of fun making friends, playing awesome games, and learning about how God is real in our everyday lives. Club is a great place to strengthen friendships from Sunday school, and other friends are welcome to come. We hope to see you there!
Save the Dates for Spring!
Club meets from 7-9 pm on the 3rd floor, once a month on a Friday.
- April 7, 2017
- May 12, 2017
- June 2, 2017
While 4th-6th grade children are allowed to sign themselves in and out of Club, an adult does need to accompany them to and from the 3rd floor where Club is hosted. This gives parents a chance to see the fun going on as well as help us ensure that your children arrive and leave with their designated guardian for the night.
Registration is not necessary as we pre-print our attendance lists from our VPC database and register/collect emergency contact info from all visitors when they sign in.
If you are new to or visiting VPC and would prefer to pre-register and receive e-news about upcoming Club and Children’s Ministries’ events, please fill out this form.
Parent Activities During Club

Sacraments Classes for 3rd-4th Grade Children and Their Parents
The Sacraments classes provide parents and children with instruction on baptism and communion, and are designed to help parents talk with their child about faith and their readiness to participate in baptism (for those not yet baptized) and first communion. Because the classes cover a lot of material, families are expected to attend all three sessions.
- God’s Gift of Grace; separate class for children and parents on the third floor
- Baptism; separate class for children and parents on the third floor
- Communion; combined class for children and parents in the Great Hall with a short reception afterwards
Celebration of the Lords Supper – will happen at all three services the first Sunday of the month after the last class.
Classes are held at 11am. 2018 dates are TBD.
VPC strongly recommends that children be baptized before taking communion (baptism is the first step in a personal relationship with Christ; taking communion is our on-going commitment to following Him). Baptism for those children not yet baptized will be offered through the Sacraments program, though parents can sign up children for baptism at any time. For more information, please visit Baptism.
