Over the past year, our church has been praying for God to lead us in a season of renewal and to guide us in our plans for the future. The VPC leadership strongly believes that God is calling us to make a bold mission and evangelism impact in our local community and to become debt free.
Last fall, Vienna Presbyterian held several focus groups to discuss the capital campaign initiatives. Thank you to everyone who attended a fall focus group in connection with the proposed Ignite Initiative and completed a survey. During these focus groups, several critical capital projects were outlined for which our Session sought your counsel and input. Your feedback proved invaluable to our leaders. The surveys were reviewed, your concerns have been heard and have responded to in ways that we believe will serve our church well into the future.
Based on your constructive feedback, Session has unanimously voted to proceed with a campaign effort to fund the following priorities:
Eliminating our debt
Refurbishing and maintaining our facility for future ministry
Expanding our Community Outreach
These three priorities were strongly supported by you, our congregation. The initial plan included a proposal for the renovation of the main level Gathering Space, the corridor outside the Great Hall and the possible relocation of our Bookstore. A significant number were reluctant to proceed with this renovation at the present time. You were heard! These renovations will not be included as part of our Ignite Initiative.
It will be exciting to see how this Ignite Initiative will propel our church forward as our community outreach is expanded. VPC leadership is confident this campaign will be a mission our entire congregation can enthusiastically support. These three initiatives provide enhanced opportunities for our congregation to demonstrate generosity not only with money, but also with time as we share the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed with more people. Our Ignite Initiative can become a future catalyst for renewal in our church.
Pray with our leaders and pastors as VPC moves forward with this campaign. The Ignite Initiative will launch on April 23 during all three worship services. On this special day of worship you will hear about the vision our church leadership has to spark hope and ignite a brighter future for VPC and our greater community. Breakfast will be served immediately following each service.
If you have questions, comments or would like to assist in any way as we move forward with this capital effort, you are welcome to contact Scott Slocum, Clerk of Session, at email@example.com or Christina Jones, Capital Campaign Coordinator, at Christina.Jones@viennapres.org.
