The Gathering is designed to provide a warm and welcoming space for members of our community living with dementia along with support and encouragement for family caregivers. The first hour involves a time of group fellowship (music, fun and games), followed in the second hour by a light lunch with caregivers breaking out for a support group meeting while loved ones participate in volunteer-led stimulating activities and conversation in a safe and comfortable environment. Volunteers have received training on working with people who are living with dementia.
In addition to providing caring and mutual support for one another during the caregiver support group, information about various other resources and services in the community that may be of interest to caregivers and their loved ones is made available to families through this ministry. Upcoming Gatherings are also scheduled for April 8, May 13 and June 10.
