Summer Mission Projects

SMP Mission Statement

Out of our zeal for the glory of Jesus Christ,
we joyfully go out to share the good news of the Gospel
with our neighbors and the nations.

In light of ongoing developments with COVID-19 and the uncertainty of the coming months, we have decided we will not be taking a team to Mexico this year.

Both Local and Pre-Teen SMPs are on hold for the time being.

Project Descriptions

Local (Cunningham Park Elementary School)

VPC partners with Cunningham Park Elementary School to support and engage the children from the school through a week-long summer camp that includes academic enrichment through art, music, hands-on learning and sports experiences all taught through the lens of the Gospel.

Student Participant & Adult Leader Requirements: All involved should love kids and be present every day of the camp!

This introductory SMP is where Christ, service, community and fun collide! During the week we will serve at local missions organizations, connect with our Lord during daily small group bible study and strengthen community through plenty of fun and games at VPC.

Student Leader Requirements: Pre-Teen SMP Student Leaders are required to participate fully in all activities during the week. The leader will supervise and chaperone children on all trips outside of the building as well as group setting with the building of VPC. Leaders will need to be mature enough to problem solve as well as report any issues of misbehavior to an adult leaders. The leader will need to have energy, excitement and a love of Jesus.

Music & Drama Camp

This is a week-long camp ending in a Friday night performance and will include singing, movement, drama, prop-making, scenery and costume-making. The bulk of activity will be preparing for the final performance.

We also have a limited number of spaces for children (rising 6th grade – rising 7th grade) who want to learn audio, visual and lighting full-time. Please state in the memo field of the application if you want to sign your child up for this option! This will be limited to the first three sign-ups.

Student Leader Requirements: Leaders should have a love of music or theater and a passion to assist adults leaders in bringing God’s word alive through script and music. Student leaders should have some experience being part of choir, theater, audio visual, costume making or set design. Leaders will interact with children assisting them with learning lines, developing parts, playing musical games and helping them become better actors and singers. Student leaders should have energy, excitement and a love of Jesus.
